Florida State University’s English Department

Writer and Editor Intern

Organization: Florida State University has an English Department.

Situation: After studying abroad in Spain with the Editing, Writing, and Media program, I connected with a professor who was the faculty member in charge of the English Department’s Internship. For the internship, students write articles for the English Department’s website focused on events that the department is putting on, student and professors success stories, and anything new going on in the department.

Impact: I worked on a writer for one semester and then moved up to be an editor, faculty liaison, and resourcing. I would help hire interns, find topics for them to write about, and edit articles. I also lead a project for creating a special COVID issue for the English Department’s International Program in Spain. This experience helped me redefine my writing, editing, networking, and managing skills.
